For your consideration

On his blog, this editor is sharing a pitch he received. From said pitch:

“As Ginger unearths her ancestry, she discovers what it means to be a witch and the fine line her kind walk between good and evil.” (from My Soccer Mom’s Séance)

I hope to high heaven to never appear on such a site. In honor of that hope, I make no comment, but simply direct you to the site to read about it yourself.

Sites like this are helpful (and let’s face it, entertaining), but they also freak me the heck out. Discuss.

Ugh. This editor is a little too easily baffled by small details. Do we want someone so literal choosing our books? And ethically, I don’t know about posting people’s proposals on the web without their permission. Seems kind of slimy. Are the motivations here really to teach or to get attention/be the next Miss Snark?

This is the kind of elitist thing that really bugs me.

Oh! I had it wrong. According to the site:
“Authors with books that they feel are ready for publication prepare query letters or synopses, which they plan to send to publishers or literary agents. They get these into the best possible condition, and then email them to Evil Editor.”

I guess I missed that. I have less of a problem with this, but I still don’t find this dude as witty as he finds himself.
