Word Pirates: I Haven’t Forgotten You
The First Prize winner will receive $1,000 and publication in an upcoming issue of Fourth Genre. The Runner-Up essay will be considered for publication.
“Published biannually by the Michigan State University Press, Fourth Genre is a literary journal that explores the boundaries of contemporary creative/literary nonfiction. We welcome personal essays—including nature, environmental, and travel essays—memoirs, personal critical essays, and literary journalism of up to 8000 words. Please query before submitting longer pieces.”
Submission Guidelines
- Reading Period: January 15 - February 15, 2007.
- Late submissions not accepted.
- Entry Fee: $15 for each submission (Fourth Genre sample copy included).
- Make checks payable to Michigan State University Press.
- 6,000 Word Maximum
- Double-spaced, bound with clip.
- Include SASE and cover letter with name, address, phone number, e-mail address, essay title, and approximate word count.
- Entry must be previously unpublished.
